My garage door is 6’-10” clear to top of opening……the vehicle is 6’-5” now. With 3” from the lift and 1” from the larger tires I should be 6’-9” but it’s a big risk to take. Does anyone have this setup or know about the best lift / tire combo to fit in a standard garage door?

An option:

Yes, you can likely raise a 7-foot garage door by a few inches, potentially up to 7'6", but you'll need to ensure sufficient headroom and potentially modify the tracks and opener.

Here's a more detailed explanation:
  • Headroom is Key:
You need enough space (headroom) between the top of the garage door opening and the ceiling to accommodate the raised tracks and any necessary hardware.

  • Track Modifications:
You'll likely need to raise the tracks, potentially by replacing the existing ones with high-lift tracks.

  • Opener Compatibility:
Ensure your garage door opener is compatible with the raised height and the type of tracks you're using.

  • Springs and Cables:
You might need to adjust or replace the springs and cables to accommodate the increased height.

  • Professional Help:
If you're not comfortable with these

simple strategy to see how close it is. get a second person, standing next to your car as it slowly pulls in, if it gets too close to your crossbars or roof, they should be able to lift the door up at least a couple inches, so you don't hit, then back out. windows open to communicate.

i've actually watched someone put a lift on in the garage and not be able to pull their jeep out without deflating the tires, was pretty funny.

Also tire pressures and shock absorber height can increase with temperature. If you don't have sufficient clearance even a little thing like an empty fuel tank or removing seats or spare tire can raise the vehicle.

I had to remove the crossbars on mine with 285/60R20s
Thanks for the info! May I ask how tall is the opening to your garage? I’m not likely going to raise the door but if I have to get smaller tires or a different lift, I’m open to that……

Yeah, that’s what I did. I have about 5” of clearance now. Wondering how much of that 5” clearance the RL 3/2 with 275/60 R20’s will take OR will it be too tight and I should go with a different lift/tire combo that is a bit lower overall.

If anyone has that RL 3/2 with those tires and can measure the overall height of the truck (to top of rails - no cross bars) that would be super helpful.

I have the same setup 3/2 Readylift with 275/65 R20 and roof rack with crossbars. Fits in standard garage height. Fits in 6’ 10” parking garages (drain pipes can hit).

My garage door opening is 84" which I thought was a standard size but everyone
here is saying 82". I had the door installation guys come out and adjust the spring
so that the door would retract slightly above the opening height of 84" There is a lot of tension on those springs so I would not play with them myself.
