I'm not sure what happened in the last few months, but the garage opener in our Expedition has become really weak. The front of the Expedition needs to be within a few feet of the garage door to open it. Our other car can open it from halfway down the alley.
It was always much weaker than our other vehicle, but now it's ridiculous.
- Has anyone else experienced the same?
- Anyone replaced the transmitter module under the hood before? I can't even find the part numbers.
- Would you try reprogramming the opener first?
Yep, we have that same PROBLEM too w/ our 2024 Expy MAX Limited. When I first programmed the visor buttons for Garage Door #1 and Garage Door #2 and Gate #3, everything seemed normal. (I did have to clear all memory from both operators before I was able to pair them to the visor buttons, though) Our garage is 25' back from the street and when my wife drives up from the East and turns into the driveway, the nose of the Expy has to be within 5-6 feet of the garage door before the #1 button will open the garage door. If she drives up from the West and pushes the button on the street (25'-30' away) up she goes every time. What's the deal? I have NO IDEA! I hardly ever drive the Expy as it's my wife's car, but it has become an irritation for her recently.
I know that most of YOU FOLKS are much smarter than us about these newer auto electronics so, please help us out! I do know that our previous 2012 Expy EL Limited never missed a lick, as far as the garage door button functions were concerned. We love our new Expy and I told my wife just to talk to it nicely and see if it can get itself together. She saw no humor in my suggestion, it seems, from the eye roll I received. So, I would like to fix it, if possible. I know that I recently replaced the florescent tubes in all the strip lights to LED's but, they are rarely ON during the day and there's NO LED night light either. Unfortunately, as DieselMonk suggested, I also have no idea what a RF / Spectrum Analyzer is anyway or if I could borrow one, how to test it and know what to look for. Out of my league, I guess? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Lance
