Was mostly happy with my 202a (2020 XLT) - however until recently this happened.

I was on an intercity travel with occasional wind gusts in open areas, was driving between 135-159 KM/h.

I did hear a clunk noise in between however i thought any small object on the road might be deflected to the under body - which happens sometimes.

However i was struck with the realization in the picture below, when I reached the destination (around after 600km).

Like the door roof trim and roof rack cap - was literally peeled ---- gone with the wind......It was totally fine, no damages, strikes or raised edges to give way to the wind pressure.

Has it happened with anyone.....

Also would be grateful if you can post the OEM replacement part numbers for - fixing this ugly look. Will try visiting local junk yard for parts hunting from the damaged and totaled vehicles, chances are I may find them.

What is going on with the build quality....like ...really....

Thanks.

So sharing some update here.

Luckily I was able to procure already paint matching (paint code FT) replacement parts along with the roof rack nose piece.

Replacing and installing was a breeze without any tools as these are put in place by aligning and pressing onto the plastic molding and clips.

The fitting however for the left and right roof piece above door, is still a bit wiggly and not as snug as I expected. Not sure it is something any other owners have noted or not.

Mission completed for the time being.

My 2024 xlt max had the exact same problem this afternoon. Passenger side roof molding and the rack cover are both gone with wind. Same parts on left side are loose too, and it is just a matter of time to be peeled off. And I didn't even drive over speed limits due to the heavy traffic and a minor thunder storm in my local area in the afternoon. What's wrong with Ford?

Let us know how the warranty process goes with this repair.

Good luck.

What is the dealers answer to this? A roll of duct tape?

Local dealership service adviser filed a warranty request to Ford. He kept asking me if I hit something. I had to explain: first, no scratch mark or even one single chip on the paint around the missing parts; second, left roof molding is being peeled off too, without any scratch or chip as well. He also asked me what carwash I used. Fortunately, the local car wash I use is one of the largest carwash shops in the USA by volume per day, and I have their unlimited membership. Well, it sounds not promising to me to get a warranty repair.

If dealer denies under warranty, I would suggest you reinforce with 3-M double-sided foam trim tape.

I suggested using some glue underneath the molding. Service adviser said, because there are some bolts under the molding, using glue is not a good idea.

WTF difference does it make as to what car wash you use?? I see no warning in my warranty book that specifies what car wash I can or cannot use.
