When I picked up the new 2024 Expedition, I noticed that the engine had a very minor miss at idle. I figured it would work itself out. Now we have 650 miles on it and at idle, it still skips a beat every so often. Is that a common thing?
Thanks

Our 2024 Expedition MAX Limited does EXACTLY the same thing (very slight miss) and has done so since new (now 430 Miles). It is so infrequent, slight and so quick that you have to be paying attention to be able to notice it! I always attributed this to the 'Automatic stop/start' of the engine at signals and/or pause in movement. It seemed to me the computer was anticipating the 'stop' engine feature. Don't really know, though?

To me this stop/start feature is 'very aggravating', and I wish I could permanently disable it. I know you can disable it by pressing the "A" button on the dash but, this only disables it for ONE (1) start cycle. Once you shut off the engine, the next time you restart the engine, it automatically cancels the "A" button 'off' mode, then requires you to reset the 'off' once again, by pressing the "A" button.

If anyone knows how to Disable this feature permanently, please let me know. I would love to do it to my Expy. On my new 2023 Transit T350 Cargo Van, it said on the window sticker "Auto Stop/Start Removal - NO CHARGE", and does NOT do this Stop/Start ever (thankfully!) I am not worried about this slight miss though. It does NOT seem to have any effect on power or acceleration. Enjoy, Lance

Best way to disable the ASS is to use the Autostop Eliminator. For 2022+ Expys it's about $110 and looks to be very simple to install. I put one on my 2019 and it's great!

Thanks East-TN for the Heads-Up on this Autostop Eliminator:

Yes, this Autostop Eliminator looks to be a great thing and seems to be Plug-N-Play so, I have bought one for $110 and will give it a try, once it gets here. I'll report back as to the ease of installation and functions. Thanks again, Lance

Same thing on my 22 Expy. One of the only pluses to the chip shortage!

Well, AJ82, yes, that sure is a GOOD THING that they had 'Chip Shortages' (in your Expy case) isn't it?

I actually had no idea why it was shown on the Transit Window Sticker, "Auto Stop/Start Removal"? I had purchased this Transit from a Crouse Ford dealer in Maryland (I'm in CA) through a Ford salesman referral, on the Transit USA Forum, and I asked them at Crouse Ford about this "removal" and was told that this Transit T350 was ordered with 4 other ones for a small business fleet but that they didn't buy this one because it took too long for it to arrive from Ford. My salesman said maybe the business ordered it that way? So, I took his word for it, at that time. So, it may have actually got caught in the 'Chip Shortage' that you mentioned? Whatever the reason, I am very pleased it is configured this way, Lance

Hello bb37:

Sorry, NO, I do not have a 2025. It is a 2024 and I wrote 2025 in error (now corrected). Thanks for giving me the heads up here, Lance

Yep, JKH13, it is most aggravating but I bought this Autostop Eliminator and it should be here by this weeks end so I am anxious to get it installed this coming weekend. It looks great and I will report here how it goes, once it arrives, Lance
