Confirmed: it is part of the vacuum system for the 4WD hubs. One big, enormous, long assembly.

Found a replacement on eBay for $31, but I may just try to repair it first.

Just repaired it with a three-inch piece of silicone hose and a few cable-ties.

Can anyone identify this broken vacuum line? It's on the frame member underneath and just in front of the motor.

You did not list the year, make, model and drive-type of your vehicle.

Do you have the 4WD option? The line looks like one of the vacuum lines that go to the IWE (independent wheel engagement) hub for the front. If the line is broken, the vehicle should default to 4WD (not 4H).

2018 Expedition MAX Limited 4x4.

Thanks for the pointer. I'll see if I can confirm that from the shop manual.
