GREETINGS & SALUTATIONS ----This hose/line/tube fell off my expedition several months ago and I have tried EVERYTHING to identify it and find its location on my truck. NOTHING HAS WORKED ...NOT EVEN A.I. Can anybody tell me what the hell this is with 100& confidence?? ALSO... WHERE THE HELL DOES IT GO??????.... I THINK I MAY BE LOSING MY MIND., This issue is now causing trouble codes, and I can't SMOG/Register the truck until I get this damn hose back on the vehicle. REG is coming up next month.
Please note the MALE quick-connect nozzle and bracket at one end and a slip-over tip at the other end. All the curves are permanent pre-molded bends.
RIG: 2003 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer Edition with the 8cyl. 5.4-liter Triton engine.
WHAT IS IT AND WHERE DOES IT GO??!!??.... Thank You in advance, Aj

How do I reply to each individual response to my post?

I can't say for certain. It looks like a coolant hose to me, but I just replaced all my 2004 coolant hoses and that wasn't one of them.

If it's causing codes what are they. The codes will help to identify the hose if they are related to it.

Did the Expeditions have additional equipment to meet the CA emissions standards? If so it could be be part of that and I might not know anything about it. I know the early 2000's Monte Carlo's had an optional CA emissions package. More or less it was an air pump that ran only at cold startup since in CA "the solution to pollution is dilution".

Right, gotta find out what those codes are. However, if the hose has been out several months and the codes just started, they may be unrelated. Do your wiper fluid sprayers work ok? Can't tell from your picture how big it is but the hoses for the sprayers are small, around 8mm OD.

I’d drop the spare tire and look closer at the EVAP Canister nest. It doesn’t look like anything above the fuel tank, and doesn’t look like something Ford used in coolant lines. It’s certainly nothing from under the hood…mine is an ‘06 and have replaced every coolant and vacuum line from the firewall forward.

The code is a P0175 RICH CONDITION. That hose length is 3 ft diameter is 1/2 inch.
This is what I've thrown at this GODFORSAKEN CODE. You might want to sit down and put on a pair of protective eyewear.

new 02 sensors (twice)
new fuel injectors
new spark plugs
new ignition coils
new MAF
new MAP
new EGR with all components
new PCV with octopus
new TPS
new fuel filter
new gas cap
new thermostat
new fuses
sealed all vacuum
sealed all exhaust
sealed fuel system
new fuel pressure regulator
new IAC
Changed Oil and filter
New Battery
....AND STILL THE P0175 PERSISTS.
This is why I think the MYSTERY HOSE is causing the code...Because I've replaced almost everything else that could be causing the error.

Thanks ...Going to check the evap area tomorrow as well as a more in-depth look at coolant. Most hoses have the female quick-connect end but this one has the male nozzle. I would think that would be a clue as well.

also...That bracket appears to be a "flat mount" which kind of suggests FIREWALL so I will be looking at the firewall for possible location where this thing originally came loose from.

I decided to try and source out that nozzle tip by itself and it turns out that those are heater/hvac hose connectors. NOW we may be getting somewhere.

Perhaps take it to your local Ford Dealer’s parts department and see if they recognize or can help identify it.

They should at least have access to good parts diagrams, and may recognize by looking at it what kind of system it belongs to.

Consider the possibility that the mystery hose has little or nothing to do with the trouble codes you're getting and, if those codes are emissions related, your Exp will fail inspection. With a deadline looming, I'd be focused on resolving the DTC's first.

what length and diameter? I can go out and look at my 03 EB to see if I can find anything similar.

You would think there would be a puddle of coolant. If it does end up being a heater core hose, you might want to have the system evacuated and antifreeze topped off because there could be a bubble when you turn the heat on.

Did you smoke test the intake system ? That's the best way to find a vacuum leak and fix your P0175 code.

It looks like your Evap hose. The far end connects behind the throttle body. See my picture, 1753845579034.jpeg

yes...have smoke tested SEVERAL TIMES. No vacuum, exhaust or fuel pressure leaks.
