So I bought a 2013 limited a couple months ago. The dealership finally got around to sending me the spare keys today and on the keychain were a couple remotes that have a single button and say "AstroStart". The button doesn't seem to do anything. Maybe dead batteries? It got me to wondering if this thing had remote start on it. I popped the hood and didn't see anything that looked like an aftermarket module in there but I did notice a sticker that said to be sure to switch off remote start with the under dash switch before working on the engine. I looked under the dash and didn't see any switches. So my question is...how do I tell if I've actually got remote start? Thanks for your help.

Press and hold the button.. should have a light on it. The button is tied up in a bundle of wires and is easy to miss.

Look up Astro Start online and find out if they have a local dealer to you. Let them take a look at the vehicle. They will know if the system is installed. Ford remote start is part of the key or key fob and it requires you to hit the lock button and double press the start button.

On my old truck you had to press and hold the remote start button for the truck to start and then press it twice to shut it off.

Ok. Follow up. I was going through my manual packet and I came across the owners manual for an AstroStart aftermarket remote start system. This was pretty definitive to me that someone had installed remote start on this truck. I had to look around a bit this morning but I found replacement batteries for the remote and, Voila! I've got remote start!

That's a nice little surprise. The dealership didn't even know it had remote start when I bought it. Lucky day for me.

Awesome! I love my remote start. I had the aftermarket remote start installed in my 05 when I was leaving the house at 6:00 AM to go to work. It was great in the morning in the winter to get into a warm truck,

Andy, after you remote start your engine does, your Expedition turn off when you open the door. I have a Navigator and the engine turn off when you open the door. The dealer told me it's a safety feature. It's a PIA.

John, No it stays running for up to 20 minutes if I remember correctly and you can extend it. (This with the factory remote start in the 2017) You still have to put your foot on the brake and push the start button before you can drive it.

My '16 is factory set for 10 min run but can be extended to 30 by doing the remote start sequence two more times.
