My wife’s 2011 Limited is hesitating. I checked for codes and I was getting 305. I figure with 138K miles, time for a plug change. Change and gap all new plugs. The thing runs worse. Throwing 305 AND 307...Next thing I try are new coils. New coils all around...still rough...

So by rough, I mean slight stutters at rpm acceleration (easily). If I stand on it, it really struggles and then I get a flashing check engine that goes away at the next stop light

    what the heck next people?

    thanks in advance!

    Ian

See if you can capture the codes while it is flashing at you...

You didn't wash out the engine bay, did you? How about any coolant leaks?

Also, has this gone on for more than one tank of fuel and from more than one station? Have you tried running some injector cleaner additives?

Which plugs did you use? My '07 was sensitive to non-motorcraft plugs, and it likes the newer SP546 over the older SP515. I had a slight hesitation under light load and misfire (CEL flashing) under heavy load until I went with the SP546. I also noticed that my connectors for my COPs are breaking, so I picked up some new pigtails that I will need to solder in sometime soon.

I have not washed out the bay and no to coolant leaks. I have not tried the injector cleaner yet. I will grab some this week. It’s been happening for a while. My wife drives it back and forth to work and has no need to ‘step on it’. Not really an issue for her but drives me crazy.

I will need to check the plugs. I just bought compatible ones from Autozone.

I can certainly try but after it throws 305 and 307 misfires.
