I installed new shocks today on my 2010 Expedition EL with 136k miles. Had to go all the way down to Monroe because KYB and Bilsteen were back ordered for months. Had one blow out before vacation but drove it anyway, almost 2k miles in a couple of weeks. Other than the oil slick left in the garage, because of the shock leaking, there were no noticeable issues. I had to get the loaner tool from Autozone for the 406 lb ft of torque. The ride is noticeably better after the change. Hope they hold up!

I’m curious - why not Motorcraft shocks?

I’m curious - why not Motorcraft shocks?
I would of had to break down the springs, a little afraid of the cheap compression tools out there. These were a full assembly strut with a new spring. Just so many thoughts going through my head of broken springs on older trucks, made me just want to do a full replacement. I didn’t check with the dealer but on tasca, the parts were pieces and I didn’t see a full assembly. I would be back in the same boat of spring compression to insert the shock. I replaced the water pump and pulleys this past winter, outside in the 20s degree weather. Those were all motorcraft parts. The spark plugs I did, motorcraft, but my heater hoses that have the T that leak, Dorman ( metal T) instead of the crappy plastic. When I did my filter in my trans, dealer ordered Motorcraft, but used Valvoline ATF Maxlife! It’s good fluid, been in there for about 45k miles (had the bulkhead on the trans leaking before).

FYI - I installed the Monroe packaged shock/spring units all the way around on my 2011 Limited about 3 years ago. When finished, the front of the truck ended up 1.5" lower than before the change and the nose bounced like it had worn out shocks when going over bumps.

I made the huge mistake of throwing out the old shocks and springs as an assembly, so when I decided to bite the bullet and fix the problem by reinstalling Motorcraft front shocks & springs, I had to buy the shocks, springs and mounting plates separately as noted by the OP and it was an expensive lesson. The truck is now level and rides like new even though I still have the Monroe packaged shock/spring units in the rear.

It’s a moot point since you got them installed, but have you tried shock surplus?

That’s where I got my bilsteins from. Good luck to you on your build.
