hi all, just joined. i know forums are mostly dead so i'm glad this one still seems active. just picked up an '03 XLT with a 5.4 from my wife's FIL who unfortunately passed away recently. it's not clean or shiny but only 53,000 miles, it still has the original destination LE tires on it. he bought it in 2013 with 43,000 so he barely drove it. drives great except for it seems like it's in 4x4 when coming away from a stop and turning even though the switch is in 2w and no 4x4 dash lights. but my main ride is a 2010 explorer that i maintain myself so familiar with ford, hopefully fixing all this isn't too much of a headache. thanks!

Wow! 22-23 years old and low mileage!

The tires may have some dry rot. Take a good look as the side walls especially near the bead.

oh yeah, they're toast! i only trusted them to drive home. found a deal on marketplace for 20" wheels & tires off a 2018 f-150 so good to go. much better look i think. that's my 2010 explorer behind it with 225,000 miles, was hoping to get to 300,000 but may have to take a break to drive this lol
