My 2008 el EB 4x4 has 185K now and thinking about moving up. Almost nothing good about the Ecco Boost on line. Any suggestions?

I choose to believe the 2014 is the last good year because that's what I have haha. But there's plenty of good about the Ecoboost. They blow the doors off my 5.4 for one thing. How they are maintained makes a big difference, just like the 5.4.

We're looking to buy an additional vehicle and really like our 2011 Gen 3 Navigator. We'd prefer to get a longer "L" version this time around.

I like the styling (grill and wheels) of the 2008-2014 better but the extra power and better(?) fuel mileage of the 2015's Ecoboost is really tempting. I see it like this, more power = more complexity, it's a trade off.

I've heard good things about the gen 1 EcoBoost (2015-2017). Those seem to hold up well with proper maintenance, plus they still have the 6R80. Lots of 200K+ mile examples in Expeditions and F150s alike.

I own a 2016 that I bought new, it has been great, 122K miles, has HD Tow package and has had no problem towing a 7,200lb 24' enclosed race trailer. absolutely no issue with turbo boost. I did have the TB issue, was replaced by the dealer and no issues afterward.

My 2015 is quite happy with the Ecoboost. It replaced a Dodge 1500 Hemi, I get much better mileage and towing capacity. The only unexpected repairs were the ATB and Trans cooling hoses

I was very weary of the Eco-boost until my wife just had to have the 2015 expedition. It's been a great engine. Just rolled over 200k on it. Other than basic maintenance I have had to replace the throttle body and evaporator coil. The Eco boost is fun to drive and has been very reliable. Also alot of people talk bad about the 6r80 but I've have two sitting in the drive way one with 201k and another with 263k but you have to change the filter and fluid! I change the filter and fluid every 60-70k and have never had an issue. My brother had a stutter in his 6r80 with 170k on it and changing the filter and fluid fixed it.

Thanks! I was asking about issues with transmissions AFTER the 6r80. I think they put 6r80's in RV's and Super Duty's still.
I remember seeing issues with the 10 speed transmissions that came after the 6280.
