I have a 2004 expedition 4x4 5.4 Triton V8 I'm on the toll road in Austin every day and need more power and would like to go faster than 105. Looking for recommendations/ where to start. Thanks

Not sure if going faster than 105 is a joke or serious. But making a brick move faster would require a loss of some weight. If you don’t need the middle row seats, take them out. Ensure your tires are properly inflated to reduce their drag. Ditch the clutch fan for an electrical fan. Remove the stock exhaust manifold (risk broken studs) and put on shorty headers. Change your differential out.

Hmm, I thought our Expeditions were governed at 99mph, maybe not. Though over 90 they start to get kinda floaty and I don't like the way it feels. I have driven plenty at over 150mph and would not consider a truck for that, just not it's forte'.

From a safety and performance perspective I suggest trading the Expedition for a Mustang GT 500 that I believe also has a 5.4 V8 in it.

Oh dang you're right. The GT500 does have the 5.2 Voodoo with the flat plane crank. I thought both the GT500 and the GT supercar had the 5.4, but I didn't check. Sometimes thinking is a bad idea for me, haha.

If I were here, you would know it !
Well, just install a bigger gas pedal, that will do the trick, hahahahaha :)

j/k....

But as mentioned, you could look for ways to reduce the vehicle's weight, which would be the most practical way to make it a bit faster to get up to whatever speed you want to achieve, OR

You could swap in a larger, more powerful engine and a better drive train, but that's not really feasible due to the cost, complexity, and required engineering know-how.....

Add a centrifugal supercharger. Expeditions share a similar enough engine bay layout to a F-150. ‘Possibly’ best bang for the buck.

Live on Maui, my expedition could probably do that going down the mountain with a tail wind. However I just went from 29" tires to 33". Makes passing sketchy. Would love to know engine options Best HP that will work with it's MAP.

The Gen 2 Expeditions came with 31.5" tires. Go back to the smaller 29" tires, that will improve your passing acceleration more than most available mods. If you have a 5.4L there's lots of threads on here about this. Most threads for mild power gains will mention new intake, exhaust, proper maintenance, ensure it's running as well as possible. If you want a big power/acceleration gain look to a supercharger, turbo, new camshafts, new differential gears. If you have a 4.6L I'd try the Mustang GT forums as they will have a wealth of information on that engine.

The aftermarket support for the GEN 2 Expeditions is rather limited.

swap in a 5.4L cast iron block with 32 valve heads from a Lincoln Navigator and put a supercharger on it. Like the 07-10 GT500. That will make it a lot faster than you like!
