Loud clicking

My rear heater clicks when I turn it on and now blows only cold air? I have 2013 Expedition. Also, sometimes a nasty smell comes from air but no leak ( had it checked out), any suggestions?

Usually it's just a broken actuator. Not too hard to replace.
