I have KYB Struts and my 2010 for expedition 2wd and I did not know that the factory struts/shocks lower spring perches came off. I had the dealership 4.5 years ago replace them and I was never told. So fast forward I go and buy Bilstein struts and pull everything apart and boom I can't install them.

I was either thinking about returning them and buy Ford factory struts that come with the lower sping perches or I found local auto wrecking yard has 2007 2wd and they are asking $300 for all 4 complete factory struts.

I was wondering if that was a good deal? I spend $449.18 shipping and taxes on rockauto for the bilsteins already and if I should spend another $300 on used struts just to part them or should I buy the Ford factory struts that come with the lower spring perches?

I attached somepictures I found of what the lower spring perche looks like and on factory strut and what it looks like on the bilstein struts.

So mad that the dealership didn't tell me to keep the factory struts lower spring perches/seat.

rockauto has MOTORCRAFT ASH24732 for $36. Buy those, cut off the lower mount (not the cylinder as that's under pressure) so you can slide off the lower coil spring seat and damper, and install on the Bilsteins.

This might sound like a dumb question, but why are the Motorcraft ASH24732 so cheap vs the other part numbers??

So I can order 4 shocks/struts and they are universal and should fit?

You're only in it for the lower spring seat so the rest of the shock (valving, front/rear fitment, etc.) doesn't matter. In this case cheap actually does equal good. :)

I took this same route when I refreshed my truck and they worked great on Bilstein 5100s.

But what if a person needs all the upper mounts as well?

Thanks, I ordered all 4 struts and they should come in this Monday 7th. I only need the lower spring perches/seat.

You can buy the upper mounts with no problems. My factory original upper mounts are just fine even with over 230,000 miles on them.

You can buy the upper mounts and lower mounts made by KYB.

Thank you again for the help. The MOTORCRAFT ASH24732 lower spring perches/seat fit just fine on the Bilstein 4600. I will install all 4 struts this weekend. This was a cheaper option vs buying used factory struts from the wrecking yard for $300.00....

What year were these going on? ANd did the spring perches work on both the front and the back?
