Very nice! I traveled to quite a few of the places you were at in the 80's - very pretty areas! Did you get oil changes down there?
Samantha

I had the oil changed just before we left, and again in Phoenix Arizona the day after we crossed the border. That was about 9000 miles, and the 'service' counter hadn't gone off yet, and the oil still looked and felt and smelled ok.

These yellow stars are most of the places we camped in the 4 months we were there. The total trip from home to home was 9960 miles.

Nice trip. I would love to take that one. How long does it take with stops?
I read this regarding oil changes. A 4th generation Ford Expedition typically needs an oil change every 5,000 miles, but the vehicle's "Intelligent Oil Life Monitor" (IOLM) can adjust the interval based on driving conditions, so you should follow the oil life indicator for the most accurate oil change schedule. When the oil life reaches around 5%, it's time for an oil change. I still change oil and filter with full synthetic every 5,000 miles, overkill or not.

...

It was 4 months from Border crossing to border crossing. It took us 3 days, I think? to get to the Texas meeting point, and we kind of meandered home, stopping to visit my wife's aunt in Orange County, and spent a few days at the Elks in Santa Maria scarffing killer BBQ.

This was a modifed version of the "Yucatan" trip from https://mexicocaravans.com/index.html with the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse side trip to Durango, and Copper Canyon stitched on.
