I am working on putting my car together. I am trying to put HB2 back in. I feel like I have the right bolt, but it's not staying in. Every bolt on this page is an M6 aside from the tensioner bolts which are M8s. So ordering a replacement doesn't seem to make sense if it won't stay in. I didn't have an issue removing it. Would getting a bolt from the hardware store be catastrophic if I end up using it? I'm already way to many days into the head gasket replacement. I can't really afford to wait longer. Open to suggestions

What do you mean by wont stay in? Won't tighten up? Id suspect some of the aluminum threads came out with the bolt during removal. Does a different m6 bolt tighten up in that home? Damaged bolt hole threads can be fixed with a helicoil pretty easily if that's the issue.

PA, but I'm NOT really here...where you is ?
Assuming there are some threads left, Permatex thread sealer may help.....ie: the RED one, which is the high temp/high stress version :D

And yea, as long as the bolt you get matches or exceeds the specs (steel type/strength) of the original, you should be fine, but you should probably take the old one with you to the store just to be sure...

Like the hole is way to big for the bolt. I put the bolt in and there is nothing to grip to. I can pull it right back out with very little resistance. I'll check out the helicoils or trying a bigger bolt.
