With the weather finally cooperating, I managed to tackle a couple of upgrades that significantly enhanced the driving experience of this truck.

Sway Bar Upgrade

I replaced the factory front and rear sway bars with the Hellwig 7696 (front) and 7688 (rear). The difference was immediate and dramatic. Gone is the "boat-like" body roll I used to feel when cornering, and the steering wheel no longer jerks during hard acceleration onto highways. This is especially impressive considering the stock struts and shocks are already under added compression from the leveling kit pucks. Whether your truck is lifted or running a stock setup, I can't recommend this upgrade enough.

Livernois Performance Tune

The sway bars were a precursor to the additional ponies via a performance tune from Livernois. Using their LPP631172 tuner, I sent in my stock tune, shared my list of modifications, and received two custom tunes within two days: a 93-octane performance tune and an 87-octane towing tune.

While I probably won’t use the towing tune, the 93-octane performance tune is outstanding. Previously, I kept the truck in sport mode almost all the time to get decent throttle response. Now, even in normal mode, the throttle response and power exceed what the factory sport mode offered. Switching to sport mode now transforms the truck into an entirely different beast.

Although it’s not a GT500, launching in sport mode is enough to spin the tires—and it can easily leave my buddy's 2024 F-150 Shelby Raptor in the dust (which he is beyond thrilled about lol). Beyond the fun factor, the tune noticeably improved the transmission's behavior. Gear shifts are smoother and more precise, with no more gear skipping or constant up/down shifts. The "clunky" feel I used to experience is completely gone. It also disabled the auto start/stop feature, which, in itself, is worth the cost of it all lol.

Final Thoughts

Together, these two upgrades have completely transformed this truck. For about $1,500 total, the PPS (price per smile) evey time I drive this thing is well worth it.

Thanks for posting! Does the tune increase peak boost or just change the way it responds to the pedal?

That's a good question. It doesn't say in the list of items changed by the tune, but I'm going to ask them because I'm curious now lol. Let you know!

I'm running the same tune on my F150 EcoBoost. Prior to the tune, the factory boost gauge peaked at maybe 15-16lbs. Post-tune, it reaches 20lbs+ which is the limit of the boost gauge. This tune combined with using 4A for traction is awesome. I can't post the video here, but notice the boost gauge pinged at 20 psi:

Given some of the software bugs i've seen in these, I'm surprised exceeding didn't cause a blue-screen of the display, get that, blue as in the blue oval and a fault, lol.

11k miles on the truck since I installed the tune, and nothing has blown up yet. lol Not sure how accurate the PID's with the Torque app are, but I've seen it record boost up to 23 lbs using the app. I am an avid FDRS and FORScan user, and my truck is reporting no codes other than the PCM code losing comms with the active air dam since I took that crap out when I installed the Tremor skid plate on my truck. I'm very happy with it.

Maybe I am missing something, but if you have the SPP, you have the 440hp Raptor engine and sport tuned suspension (CCD). I have found this to be very adequate for everything! What does the extra tune do and is it really worth it with the SPP engine?

You’re absolutely right—one of the best aspects of free will is our ability to have diverse opinions, preferences, and priorities. While I personally find the stock Expedition (even the SPP trim) to feel "boaty" and somewhat underwhelming in terms of performance compared to its potential, I recognize that not everyone will share that perspective.

Having driven these vehicles for nearly 20 years—both in stock form and heavily modified—I can confidently say that a stock Expedition drives more like an Excursion. However, with a few well-chosen modifications, these trucks truly come into their own, offering the kind of performance and driving dynamics you’d expect from a capable SUV.

Of course, they’ll never match the performance of something like a Trackhawk, but it’s impressive how much you can improve handling, power, and responsiveness with the right upgrades. That said, it’s hard to fully understand the difference unless you’ve experienced both stock and modified versions firsthand.

In the end, the stock SPP is an excellent package and more than sufficient for most drivers. However, I’ve always been someone who wants my truck to perform at its best and be the absolute best version of itself.

You didn't answer the question though.
Actually if you read my original post as well as the subsequent comments, it is answered. If that isn't enough, a quick google of the tuner will tell you everything you want to know.

A little off subject matter: I have the Livernois tune on my 2018 explorer Platinum......it does make a difference. However, holding off on my 2021 expedition limited, due to warranty reasons
