Motorcraft or Akebono ceramic pads?

I'm switching over to ceramic pads all the way around. Some say to use Akebono and others recommend Motorcraft.

2004 EB Expedition. Recommendations?

Actually of late my favorite brake pads are Raybestos Element 3 Hybrid pads. They have been fantastic on our Monte Carlos, Ranger and Expedition. They produce a bit less dust, bite really well and provide excellent feedback.

I would recommend staying away from Raybestos rotors though.

Akebono have a good reputation, I have no experience with them, but I looked heavily at them and decided to try to the Element 3 Hybrid pads due to the cost compared to the Akebono and I'm glad I did.

The original MotorCraft pads lasted a very long time, they did okay on braking, but provided very poor feedback I think.

I use the Akebonos. They've been great. Extremely low dust, and long life. It could very well be the last pads you put on your Expy. They stop very well, no dust, no noise, no complaints. They offer a high performance pad now. Mine are just the regular ceramics they offered 10 years ago.

I’m using Duralast Gold. Been good so far. Definitely outlasted my OEM’s. Replaced those twice before going ceramic. Btw, I did ceramic pads and rotors all the way around.

Just towed the wife’s Buick Encore from Atlanta to Arizona. And my RV from Jacksonville to Huntsville. No issues.

Glad I came across this thread. Was on the Raptor forum and almost got my head ripped off because supposedly, “…there is no such thing as ceramic brakes…”, one of the Raptor owners told me. Also, “…they make no such thing for the Raptor…”

At which point I posted an article discussing carbon ceramic brakes. Then posted a link to a websites carbon ceramic brake options for the Raptor.

Apparently, some of those guys have more money than knowledge.

I have been using Power Stop for the last couple of years with no problems. They also don’t produce any dust.

I've used Akebono pads on all my previous vehicles with great results. However I have a brake job coming up and have Raybestos Element 3 hybrid pads waiting to be installed, since they seem to get great reviews.

I have Akebono ProACT ceramic with AC Delco rotors all around and they've been great. I have 42k on the fronts and 85k on the rears.
