It's become pretty rare to find a Motorcraft part "made in the USA," but as I posted it previously I would take the label with a grain of salt. Widget made of parts components USA-P1 and CN-P1, CN-P2 and CN-P3 with labor costs represented by USA-L and CN-L. USA-1 = $20 CN-P1 + CN-P2 + CN-P3 = $2 USA-L, 3 hours labor = $60 CN-L, 30 hours labor = $7 Despite most of the parts and labor coming from China, this part can be labeled "made in the USA" because the majority of the cost involved in its manufacture was spent in the USA. On a side note, all of this obsession with US made parts on a vehicle whose American-Made Index ranking has now plummeted to #20 seems a bit absurd. I mean, if buying American is paramount, then there are 19 vehicles that provide more American parts/labor than the Expedition. Put your money where your mouth is.
Some of the newfound high quality domestic manufacturing resulted from the recent tariffs against China, which our president-elect has pledged to eliminate. Nice to see a small assurance that extra money spent on OEM parts may get me some better quality. I've found that to usually be the case, though I've been disappointed to find a Chinese part in some OEM orders.
Well an air filter and a fuel filter don’t contain a number of components sourced from 10 different countries. One is paper sealed in a rubber gasket, the other is an aluminum cylinder. The majority of components in the air filter are USA made. I’m sure there’s a widget in there that was sourced from Mexico though. Don’t rain on the parade.
Apparently you (MrTrain) is hell bent on turning this Forum into a Political discussion Forum. Can you identify said parts and back up your claims, or are you just a muddy the water kind of person? https://www.cnbc.com/2020/12/02/bid...mediately-remove-trumps-tariffs-on-china.html I'm into the truth and not false information misleading others.
I'm talking about parts, not politics. No politics allowed here, unless of course, they... never mind. Yea, I guess I'm a muddy kind of guy; maybe even deplorable. You're a good guy so let me leave it at this.
Guys, I think we all prefer parts and all things we use to be made in ‘merica. The quality tends to be better than when made in Asia Pacific region. I am pleased that the MC parts I bought were made in USA. That’s all.
