Good morning forum been a member for a while now and haven’t really talked much about my custom 2008 Ford Expedition. It’s a truly one of a kind truck. The vehicles drivetrain consist of a 5.4 3V Roush IC Supercharger a 2014 6R80 select shift transmission 10-14 drive shaft and IRS 3.73 trac lock differential. The truck is pulled to 13 psi on a stock bottom end and has never been opened up. I have owned this vehicle since 2013 when I bought it as a 1 owner vehicle.

Other supporting mods include a fully built fuel system which includes areomotive fuel rails, A1000 regulator, ID1000 injector dynamics, 2012 GT500 pumps with stock hat, areomotive fuel filter -8 feed - 6 return line, 90mm Ford racing throttle body, 108mm roush induction system with 9” filter, optimal yellow top, ram air feed into induction box.

Cooling system for the supercharger consist of a Afco ZL1 heat exchanger with dual Spal fans, ZL1 brushless heat exchanger pump, aluminum canton expansion tank, mishimoto aluminum radiator (don’t buy they leak) stock is the best option, 2010-2014 electric fans & 3/4 heat exchanger lines.

Exhaust system includes Kooks long tube headers, Kooks Y pipe with green cats, and single 3” in 2.5 Dual out Gibson muffler.

Other mods include catch can, flex fuel E85 / 93 octane fuel capable, 2014 mustang GT PCM, Cluster, ABS module, GEM module, track apps, my color and 3 mode electric steering rack (normal, sport, & comfort settings).

Truck is a King Ranch as built but other interior mods consist of a 8” sync 1 system, climate controls front and rear through sync system / voice control, 2012-2014 Lincoln Navigator interior wire harness, Electric tilt steering column, custom King Ranch wrapped panels, 10” crossfire D2 subwoofer with crossfire mono 1000 amplifier, THX sound system and stock amplifier (2012-2014 navigator), Auto 3 row A/C system with front and rear temp sensors, and 2015 F250 platinum steering wheel (heated not using) 2013-2014 mustang BCM2 (lighting control module).

Exterior add ons were 2008-2014 power fold running boards (stock were fixed), 2007-2014 expedition limited chrome roof racks, 2007-2014 navigator chrome door moldings, paint to match grille, 2015 expedition platinum lift gate, rigid industry fog lights, 2005 Escalade Platinum HID set up (aftermarket sucked), Anzo headlights, and 22” platinum Expedition aluminum wheels.

All the tuning was done in house by me at YAK PERFORMANCE LLC and I specialize in the 5.4 platform. They are a great base but you have to be on point with the tuning and mods for the type of power you expect to make. The 3V platform was over looked in the car community due to some of its design flaws number one was the controller in the 2004-2008 platforms. It is slow and the 4R75 transmission is just a bad transmission for the combo. Once you get into the 6R75 / 6R80 the engine is in a better place. I have done quite a bit of swaps for customers with both F150 04-08 & Expeditions 04-06. I’m happy to help others get more out of your trucks but you have to understand the more you ask from your vehicle the more you have to give it to keep it happy. This includes maintenance as well.

I do both remote and in person tuning but just love the Expedition / Navigator platform they are extremely reliable and drive great. I also have a 2016 Navigator Reserve 4x4 it’s a great truck with its 3.5 Ecoboost engine but I love my 5.4 3V.

Wow. It sounds like you've built out a fairly bullet proof rig. I'm still looking for my first Expedition, I had been leaning toward the Navs to get the nicer interiors. Why the Super over Turbo?

So with the Navigator the interior is slightly nicer in base forum only due to some of the little odds and ends but once you step up to the King Ranch there is no comparison in the leather vs the base leather in most ford models. Now I will say the 2012-14 navigator does have a really nice limited model with a brownish seat color that looks really nice. But only in 2015-2017 with our platform did the Navigator really step it up in the Reserve model. A true reserve navigator has a fully Trevino leather interior dash is fully wrapped not in vinyl like the other models 07-17.

Now on to why a blower vs a turbo to me it wasn't worth it in a Expedition to do all that fabrication vs a like OEM fitment with the Roush setup. Plus for day to day driving you cant beat the instant response from a roots or screw blower. Soon the Roush will be coming out and my 2.3 Saleen blower will be going in due to I need the intake manifold for my 2013 mustang 5.8 Trinity 3V twin turbo I'm building. This truck though has been nothing but good to me and I have a extra 5.4 block I just had machined which I might just do a short block build with and throw some cams in for the truck. We will see how much money my mustang eats up by the time its complete.
