So I have been looking for good shocks that can handle rough dirt roads better than stock. I have recently discovered that the shocks I wanted were for the shorter wheelbase. I have a 13 el xlt. I didn't think there was a difference between the two but apparently there is. So what do you all recommend? Stock isn't good enough and I've already tried the bilstein 4600, they gave out at about 20,000 miles of use. I'd also like to know why the two wheelbases have different options?

Bilsteins have a lifetime warranty and the part numbers are the same regardless of whether it's a standard/extended length. I have over 100k on mine with zero issues (and plenty of time on dirt/gravel roads), so I'm pretty surprised that you blew them out in 20k miles. Anyway ... Fox?

Does fox make them for expeditions? I've looked and haven't found anything yet.

No personal experience, but many people swear by the 5100s. Try searching for reviews on those.

I've heard they're good but they don't make the for the expedition, I'm trying to find something that's a straight swap. It's looking like I may not have a choice though, the f150 has better options

Several forum users have installed the Bilstein 5100s on their Expeditions 3rd gens. Check strut part numbers between model years for compatibility.
