Just picked up a 2018 Expedition Limited, 97k. Slight rattle on startup. Nothing on the carfax saying the phasers were replaced. I’m looking at eventually replacing them but would like to do chains, tensioners, guides and whatever else is needed. Water pump? Oil pump?

I’m looking for either a parts list or a complete kit. Obviously the more economical the better, I don’t need oem but I don’t want temu either. I’m very mechanically inclined so I’m not worried about that part, just looking for some good quality replacement parts.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem on a 2019. I am not mechanical & mine is at the dealership as we speak. I hope my extended car warranty pays for this. Is there anything else associated w/phasers that need to be repaired at the same time typically?

I had them do the timing chain and associated timing components while they were in there for my second phaser swap.

Were it me I'd replace everything with oem. Anything that is questionable on your way in change it now while your there. Why do the same work twice.

Go OEM. Someone on here did a full write up on doing the phasers themselves a couple years ago, was quite detailed. I'd go find that thread and start there.
Heh, I didn't even bother to check but just now noticed at the bottom of the page is "Similar Threads" and there's the one I was referencing.

Nice thing is that the new phaser parts seem to be doing the job. When I got my expedition, it seems like every other thread on here was phaser related. Now we just don't see them anymore except for the odd duck who has the old ones that managed to last a while. Not to be outdone though, the phaser threads have been replaced with the CDF Drum and bad transmission threads. :D
