Curious. How is the radio reception on your new Pioneer? I installed a different model Pioneer and the reception stinks. I did replace the antenna adapter and made sure all connections were properly seated but, yuk. I have always liked Pioneer units but if their quality is dropping I'll have to switch.

Pioneer has never been top tier on radio reception, but the OP's is listed as 12 dBf (quite good). What's the FM sensitivity on yours?

I had to go digging for the specs as it's been about three years. Mine is the
Pioneer FH-X830BHS and is listed at 11dBf. I really don't know how good or bad that is but my
reception was actually better with OEM 6 disc unit that died.

Both of my pioneers are 11db as well and have no issue with FM. One is the AVH-W4500NEX and the other is the DMH-WT7600NEX. Couple years apart model wise but essentially identical performance. Both are installed into 2003 vehicles. I don't use FM terribly often but when I do it's typically clear.

Hmmm. I'll have to recheck the antenna wiring and connections. I'm on the second adapter and it didn't make any difference. I don't use the FM on a regular basis either so it's a low priority, I was just curious if it was my setup or if others had this issue. The new head unit did wake up the OEM speakers though. Much better sound. I'll see if I can find my "round to it". Thanks.

I put the JVC z1000w in my 2014 and while wiring the amps I found a loose radio antenna connector under the fuse box is the passenger kick panel. I think it’s been loose for a while or works it’s way loose. Might want to check that.

Thanks Scott, I'll check that out. Does that head unit get in the way of or block your view of any controls?
