Recently purchased a 2001 Eddie Bauer Expedition. Is there a tool for releasing the Heater hose end clips?

No,
the two clips at the firewall you push towards the fire wall not squeeze in.
Then take the hose and push it towards the fire wall, and like an air tool connection, it will pop out.

NOTE: There are three rings on each hose, two black and one white. sometimes they are on the nipple on the firewall and some times they are in the hose. Make sure to secure them right away. It will leak without them and the white ones are hard to find.

Pro tip: cover your coil packs and spark plug wells with plastic before you pull the hoses.

Thanks for the advice. Everything I've seen had people trying to depress the clips with thumb and index fingertips. A couple had destroyed the clips in an effort to remove them.

I always use this tool. Slide the 5/8" end into the clip slot to compress the white clip, push the hose toward the firewall then pull the hose back toward you and it will release free. The length of the tool just makes it easier to reach in there. There's O-rings in the quick connects to be aware of too (seals). If your clips break or you just want new quick connects, they're available on Amazon too.
