Hello! I have been active on other forums for my other vehicles but just got an expedition! I am a little familiar with them, mostly the powertrain, but we love this one! Used to drive an excursion (v10), 01 4.6 f150, multiple v10s in f250-550s, and worked on all of those. This is actually my first 5.4 i have ever been in, to be frank.

2011 limited MAX, so i think its a canadian suv? Looks just like an EL. Wife needed something to work in the snow up north where we live and this one looks to have good bones.

So far, since we got it I did an oil change (sticker on the window said they were putting in 0W-20 (!!!!!!) and i put in 5w-30. Cap and book call for 5w20 but every v10 ive driven loves 5w30), a new air filter, removed the restrictive intake horn going into the fender, and have some parts coming in to delete the intake resonator. Has a tick that sounds more like a loose/bad spark plug, and with 210k on the clock it would probably be good practice to just replace them with some SP509X and DG521s. No leaks anywhere, water pump looks recently replaced (its from a high salt area and the aluminum looks brand new), and there is hardly any salt damage.

The bad- couple of the climate actuators click SOMETIMES, and the blower motor is going out. Going to put an amazon one in tonight and see how that goes, looks like someone recently replaced the resistor and connector.
Keep getting some check air suspension message, got under there and the struts look good. Turned it off for a bit and the ride felt better at first then rough, so i turned it back on and it feels really smooth/soft over bumps in the rear. Idk what to check here, gotta do some research.
Check rear park sensor- one is hanging down behind the bumper. Idk might adhere it on im not too concerned with a backup alarm beeping at me.
Moonroof doesnt open or vent, has some heavy duty rubber tape on it. Have gone thru the car wash like 5 times and it doesnt leak so not worried about it at the moment.

All in all, we really enjoy driving this and think itll run for a long time. Every ford i or my parents has owned has stood up to lots of abuse and still ran strong, but I take good care of my vehicles.

Hello All, New here, was sandbagging your previous posts as I am having some "issues" with the spark plugs and other issues. Truck runs great, reliable until, just recently, check engine light said the coil pack on cyl 3 was bad.
Been having problems with the 4wd. Lights flashing, doesn't seem to want to go into 4wd.
Just replaced upper control arms/ball joints, front axles, brakes.

So, changing the spark plugs again, changed them about 10k 20k ago with pain (I always put never seize on bolts, plugs etc so I don't have the pain).
Lesson #1 always keep some spare coil pack bolts from the junkyard in your "parts kit" along with a spare coil pack, spark plug ....
Lesson #2 (from this site) bring over compressor hose and blow out spark plug holes before attempting to remove spark plugs.
Lesson #3 have a thin wall deep 9/16 socket w/magnet insert before starting to remove spark plugs
Lesson #4 get this tool: harbor freight PITTSBURGH PRO 3/8 in. Drive T-Bar With Flexible Ratchet

Here in lies my remaining problem: the 9/16 socket does not like to fit around all the spark plugs. I tried the 15mm, the 16mm, and the 5/8, I just cannot seem to get a good enough bite on the spark plug to remove it. All the other spark plugs on this are 9/16. Any suggestions?

Using motocraft2zk44f platnium tips burnt electrode (tip coming out insulator) ground electrode fine.

I had a similar problem a couple days ago, ended up leaving one of the spark plugs in. There is probably debris in the spark plug holes not allowing you to get a socket on the plug. Try using a long pick and disturb the debris before blowing it out with compressed air, or perhaps a claw grabber tool, or even a vacuum. Those were all the things i tried and it was enough to get all but 1 of the 5 spark plugs clean enough to put a socket on (the other 3 were clean in the holes)

Thanks for that... luckily I have a compressor 20 feet from where I am working on the vehicle. Also going to harbor freight to get that cocamamy U jointed socket wrench with a T handle
