5 to 10, maybe 12......

thousand that is...:rotflmao:

It really depends on the mileage and how it was driven & maintained in the past.....

For my previously well-maintained 011 EL w/86k on it, I use Mobil 1 or Castrol Edge full synthetic every 7-8k and a Motorcraft or Fram premium filter, neveranottaproblemo.

I just do an annual oil and filter change when the instrument panel starts nagging even though the oil doesn't go rotten with time and only mileage is what counts. Full synthetic 5W-30. I let the dealer change it so he can try to convince me I need new brakes and shocks even they're just fine based on our required annual Virginia inspections which I have done by an independent shop.

Regarding full synthetic motor oil my wife's car actually requires full synthetic or the maintenance interval for an oil change using conventional oil is cut in half. Additional expense is minimal.

I change mine annually and use Mobil 1 synthetic. But I rarely put more than 3,000 miles on it in a year. A few times I have gone as long as 5,000 miles. It's still a low (relatively) mileage vehicle with only 92k.

I'd like to update this thread. Part of this discussion is that Turbo Engines are harder on oil than N/A ones. My 2017 3.5TT gets the oil changed every 3800 - 4300 miles and it comes out dark, whereas my 2011 N/A Expy gets the same change interval and comes out just slightly off new color. They both get Mobil 1 full synthetic.

Recently I changed the oil in the 2017 much earlier than normal (1800mi) as I was going to be taking it out of state for 3 months (estimated 3700mi) and did not want to have an unknown shop change the oil. With only 1800 miles on the oil, I half expected it to come out slightly off color like the N/A engine at 4000 miles, but no, it looks like it normally does at 3700-4200. Turbos are tough on oil.
