Good Morning Everyone,

Coming off 3 4th gen expeditions and I recently purchased a 2020 Lincoln Navigator but I'm sure the it's the same PRB as the expeditions.

I'm having an issue w the passenger side PRB only, it acts very erratically (driver side works perfect). It sometimes stays down or up even when we open and close the doors while the car is turned off. I've cleaned and lubed the hinges several times and even bought a brand new battery from Costco which did not help. I do feel like it works more "normal" when the vehicle is on.

Any other idea what I can do to get it working back to normal? I'm usually pretty good at finding the issue but this has got me stumped.

Thx!

John

DSM may need to be recalibrated. That module controls the running boards and uses a hall effect sensor. I am not sure if FORScan can run a selft-test on the DSM or not, or if it has to be done with FDRS.

It also might be a door switch issue. Does the board go up when you drive faster than 9 MPH? Ours is intermittent, but it works fine with the "Advanced Settings" menu reached on the steering wheel buttons.

It usually gets stuck in the up position. Once I help it come down w my hand it goes up and down fine when I open and close the door. I’ve heavily lubed up all the hinges and pins. I’m not really hearing any grinding when the boards come up or down.

The main issue what I’ve noticed is when I don’t open or close the door for 15 min or so it goes back to getting stuck in the up position when I open the doors. I can hear the motor wanting to work but the board doesn’t want to down come down. Then when I assist it down w hand it goes back to working normal.

It’s got me really stumped.

Thx for the help!

Some boards can be really dirty or corroded and need extra help. One of my Fords with auto boards would get stuck often in the up position. I thoroughly cleaned and saturated the hinges and joints with PB Blaster. I raised and lowered the boards probably a dozen times in 5 minutes. I then used Blaster silicone spray, (silicone spray and white lithium grease attract less dirt and grime), and heavily sprayed all the hinge joints. It solved the problem. While I prefer Blaster, other brands may work as well.
