I have a 2013 Expedition EL Limited. I had a leak at the "T" of my heater hoses which dropped down into #3 bank. Blew it out and used towels to try cleaning. STILL had issues. Changed coil and still issues. Went to change plug and the socket won't go on. I installed the darn things. Am I supposed to be using a thin walled socket or what could I be missing?

For whatever stupid reason, Ford did not fully seal the spark plug well. So even with the coil connected, rocks, dirt, and debris can still work it's way down in there past the coil and make it so where you can't fit a socket in there. I had to use lights, mirrors, retrieval tools, and a lot of compressed air via nozzle to clean out all of the debris before I could even try to get the spark plugs out. The size of the rocks and dirt clumps that managed to get down in there were ridiculous.

Another thing to watch for is the porcelain surround can crack and break off, also preventing the spark plug socket from fitting.

Check inside the spark plug well to see if you have anything preventing your spark plug socket from fitting in there. clean them out REALLY well.
