Well I am having an issue with my trans, that only has approx 50k miles on it since being replaced by Ford, where it will neutral out going into overdrive. So anyway I was removing the valve body and as I brought it down the 2-3 piston came down with it. My questions are, is this normal? Also, does this piston use a snap ring to hold it in place like the overdrive piston does?

On a side note I did find the piece of the snap from the overdrive piston jammed in the valve body which was preventing it from going into overdrive.76AD715A-D9A6-4529-8E03-20BD2E7DCE37.jpeg79AF049C-43E1-457C-B1D9-9A114204AF6F.jpeg37331462-153D-40AA-97DD-CD02B133AB59.jpeg

Actually it the o/d piston does not use a snap ring to hold it in place. However, in this project, I reinstalled the valve body after removed the part of broken snap which was not allowing the o/d servo to move in the valve body, and still not overdrive!!!

Anyone have any ideas as what might be going on now? No MIL and trans shifts perfectly 1st thru 3rd and no issue with reverse.
