Replacing Emblems

Question. I have a new 2020 Expedition on order, so I'm not able to really look and see. I want to order some replacement emblems. Not in love with the blue. Would love to see a close up photo of the front and rear. I've seen some that have a hole(s) for the camera and washer in front, and others that say that the emblem comes off a base plate and that the wholes are in the base plate not the emblem (my terminology). Would love to confirm before spending $400 on a new set of platinum emblems.

Yeah that’s $400 bc that’s factory paint and clear coat that person uses. Basically they take apart the factory emblem, sand it down, paint it, clear, it and sell them for profit. I buy mine off amazon but I don’t have holes or cameras in mine so they are just straight emblems

Here is a link to the other thread I posted in. If you have the camera, the front emblem is 1 big piece (And runs $320+ JL1Z-8213-D). The models without the camera have a trim ring and separate emblem (JL1Z-8B375-AA and FL3Z-8213-A).

If you're going to pull the emblems off yourself, you might as well paint them too. Its easy, just make sure you use quality paint and clearcoat as well as some sort of primer for plastic parts so that the paint doesn't chip when bugs hit it.

Thanks. I left you a message on your prior link. I don't mind swapping, but not into sanding and painting; don't have the time to do it and want it to look nice. Rather just buy them. Not a huge investment for a nice truck I'm going to have for a while

Just went back and forth on Ebay with a company out of Franklin, IL. A bit pricey but really nice emblems. Decided to order these for our 2020 Expedition Platinum, in Star White. The link isn't for the right emblems (it's for an F150 no camera), but the painting is the same. Think it's going to look really nice on a Star White truck.

These are two Ive had in the past. Chrome on black first then white on black. These were both from amazon. Not very impressed with quality but for $15 they last about a year. The latest one, white on black, the lettering has turn brown so I’m either getting professionally painted or I’ll do them myself.

Yeah well with them being 9” wide and right in the middle, they are going to get hit with rocks, and bugs, and road grime, and discolor which is why I’m ok with just the amazon brand. I’d hate to pay $300 for a set, put them on, hop on my country backroads and get rocks kicked up on the grill from the trucks running from the rock quarry. $300 will get you half a tuner, half a set of DPs or 1/3 the cost of an upgraded intercooler. I’d rather spend the money on go fast parts lol

Question, what do people do about the silver square washer cover on the bottom right of the camera when you paint the logo. What do you do about that square to make it blend in

I guess I'll have to try and paint it with a brush. I'm having the logos made and I'm not going to pull the washer out to have it painted. Maybe a local body shop can do for me? I'll figure it out.

You will have to pull it out when switching emblems anyways.

So you're getting that Ebay seller to paint you some emblems? They don't include the cover for the washer with it?

I always just assumed they would since it all comes with the emblem when they buy it to paint it.

You're correct. I reached out to vendor, and while not listed, they provide a painted washer cover to match the logo, so I just have to pop it off and swap it. Thanks.
