Looking to by a 2021 Limited 4wd with 18,000 miles. While looking at the carfax history, i noticed that the front shock absorbers were replaced at 6000 miles. Is this a red flag? I find it a bit strange. Other than the shocks it seems clean. Oklahoma car. Now in Florida. Attaching the options from window sticker and some under carriage pics.

Poor quality OEM shock absorbers (leaking - needing replacement) seem to be very common with the Expedition models.

If you do a search on this forum you will find many posts regarding leaking shocks with very low mileage.

I bought my 2015 Expedition 4x4 new, and the RF shock leaked and needed warranty replacement at about 3,000 miles. Then, the shock was on national backorder. Go figure.

Well, those shocks were either faulty from the factory, or severely abused by the original owner.....

Therefore, I would have the rest of the suspension system checked very closely by a front-end specialist to be certain there are no other defects or damages....

Is the seller willing to offer a warranty ? If not, I would probably get the inspection done first, then decide on whether to walk away from the deal....

If this vehicle is still under the factory warranty, then a trip to a dealership is definitely warranted IMHO :)

ha ha - nope, not weird at all. I had a 2024 F150 loaner that needed new rear shocks at 1200 miles. it was brand new, never towed with, never off road. They are plastic pieces of trash.

It’s at a dealer. Not ford dealer. Still under extended warranty 18000 miles.

I think you could do better, AFTER getting the inspection & ALL needed repairs WITH an extended warranty on that work, then I would offer them $40K at best.. it's not like they are selling multiple Expy's every day, so just play hardball, the worst they can do is say no....

Used car prices are supposedly slowly coming down somewhat, FINALLY :)
