    Hey Guys,

My 2014 Expedition EL was parked for about a month. I had briefly stored a 20lb LP tank in the back of the truck by the lift gate. A few weeks ago I noticed the stitching on front of the 3rd row sheet completely came apart. (See attached). Could the propane somehow caused this to happen? We very rarely use the 3rd row seat so we didn't notice until very recently. I don't think the propane leaked but even if it did, it wasn't even close to the seats. We also noticed an oily residue on the front of that seat. I did have the truck in for service for a problem with the AC. They said is was leaking and recharged in and added a die to try to find the leak. The AC still stopped working again. Could either of these caused the stitching to completely come apart? I very rarely drive this truck so it took awhile to notice any of this.
    Thanks,
    Deano

I would say that's really cool if it wasn't such a bummer. Don't see how the propane could have anything to do with it. You'd smell a leak. Probably just a flaw in the lock of the stitching. A upholstery shop could easily fix that, since nothing's ripped.

Just make certain the rest of the seat's stitching's not crap too before you invest in a repair.

What i can't figure out is why there is an oily residue on the "leather" and also on the foam. The strange thing is why it is only on the front of that seat.

Whatever that oily residue is ate thru the thread in the stitching but didn't hurt the leather. Did something spill while it was in the stowed position and got cleaned up on top but not underneath?

Not that i'm aware of. it's just strange how it's only on the front of the seats. I'm the only one that drives this and for the most part, no one sits back there. I did have it serviced recently and they injected a die in the coolant system to find out where the coolant is leaking. The AC is not working again, so somewhere it is leaking.
I did find something on the internet that said if a drain is blocked and caused the AC condensation to backup in the vehicle, it could leak onto the floor. I also found a spot under the floor mats that is eating away the carpet. Could a clogged AC drain be causing all of this?

    Thanks!

I just got back from the dealer and they said they need to replace the rear evaporator core. Could this have leaked and caused the problems with the seat and carpet?

    Thanks!

Could a car battery have caused this? I had one on the floor mat for about a day. I don't think it was leaking. Just strange how the seat came apart.
