Is it easy to get stuck there? Do you carry any ramp kinda thing for if you do? Do you have to know and abide by the tide schedules?

Very easy to get stuck in the soft sand, which you’re required to drive on in certain areas. The tides take about half the beach at high tide, forcing you off the hard pack and into the mush. With so many people here for the weekend, the ruts and moguls are murder. Most of the people I saw get stuck had low clearance vehicles and high-sided in the ruts. No, no ramps. Lots of huge 4x4s around itching to show off by pulling stuck people out. The guy who owns the Grave Digger monster truck is just a few blocks from where we are right now.

4wd is required by law on this part of the beach. There is no pavement anywhere, even around the homes, which can only be accessed from the beach road.

We do the same thing here on Long Island, and have yet to get stuck in the soft sand. Carry a hi-lift jack and an air pump and air the tires down to about 18 lbs.

Ever do water skiing off the shore with a 100-foot rope?

We were in the National Park portion of Asseteague Island and were required to carry a tow rope, a shovel, and a board in case we got stuck. But in 4WD low and deflated tires, I didn’t have any concern at all. When you stop in the soft stuff, it’s important to first drive forwards and back a couple of times to pack the sand.
