Hello all, I just picked up a 2019 expedition with 140k on it knowing it was going to need some work, really just looking for where to start. PO said the noise started around 110k after a cam phaser replacement. There is no noise on start up similar to the well known cam phaser noise, just this annoying tick. Runs and drives great, other than the noise, you’d never know anything was wrong. This noise begins at start up and has no change when warm or cold. Was hoping someone had heard something similar and can point me in the right direction, but I’m assuming cracked or broken piston skirt.

Looking to get one of the forscan deals on Amazon so I can deactivate the cylinders and see if there is improvement, should rule out piston slap. My other thoughts are loose chain, poorly installed guides/phasers, or noisy tensioner.
