2018 Expy Plat Max. I only have 2 fobs and want to program a 3rd, but Ford stops me in my tracks, saying a max of 4 is allowed. I have the extra fob hardware. Apparently, the prev owner had programmed all 4. Aside from taking it to a dealer so they can RIP me off to use Forscan to erase the 2 extra fobs and taking it to an auto locksmith so they can RIP me off, any workarounds? Thank You!

Oh wow.. Previous owner programed two additional keys but you only have two. This means that those two are out there somewhere and can open and start your vehicle. One way or another you need to erase All keys and program the two two you have. Then you can program the third one yourself.

Yes, there is… call a few locksmiths or you need someone that has the tool a locksmith uses. It’s no problem to program them.

I'm not totally sure but FORScan may allow you to erase 2 fobs.
It is a feature to program them if you have 2 fobs. So, you may be able to remove the fobs you do not have.

If the ability to reprogram is available in Forscan then part of the process would be to erase existing keys.
Thanks, for all the responses. You confirmed what I thought about the situation. As far as there being 2 fobs out there somewhere that can open my car, I'm not too worried. I got the car from Texas, and I'm in Ohio.

Another precaution is making sure your Ex is connected to your Ford Pass account and not the old one.

Careful here… be aware that some key fobs are locked after they were programmed to a car. So you just can’t go and reprogram them and need to replace all of them or flash the old fobs to be ready to be reprogrammed. Hopefully this makes sense…

My Ferd dealer sent me to a local mobile locksmith, who stocks the key fobs and everything. Bring all your fobs to the locksmith, so they can clear the car then program the fobs.
