Special Service Message 53531 - 2022-2024 Expedition Timberline - Trail Turn Assist Feature Disabled

Some 2022-2024 Expedition Timberline vehicles may exhibit a condition where the trail turn assist feature is disabled after a few seconds of activation. This may be due to the accessory protocol interface module (APIM) software. Replacement or reprogramming of the APIM will not resolve this condition. Inform customers that engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition and will be released via software updates delivered over-the-air (OTA) expected Q3 2025. Software will update automatically if vehicle connectivity is enabled in the vehicle’s settings. Schedule a service visit for customers who have disabled vehicle connectivity or who report that they did not receive the update by September 2025. Monitor Professional Technician System (PTS) for additional information.

I had to look-up what-the-heck the Trail Turn Assist was, and feel certain I've never used it myself. But now that you've bumped this thread I'm wondering how one might go about determining whether the software update was shipped, and how to verify we have it!?

Good question!

I used it a few times for fun when we first got our Timberline, probably in 2022. But I’ve been unable to get it to engage/stay engaged for some time.
