Special Service Message 53866 - 2025 Expedition/Navigator - Rear Power Liftgate/Tailgate Operation - With Or Without DTCs In The Rear Gate Trunk Module (RGTM)
Some 2025 Expedition and Navigator vehicles may exhibit a power liftgate/tailgate inoperative condition with or without diagnostic trouble code (DTC) in the rear gate trunk module (RGTM). A liftgate/tailgate ajar light may also be displayed in the center display. This may be due to the software in the RGTM. To correct the condition, reprogram the RGTM using the latest software level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). If the condition remains, continue with normal diagnostics per the Workshop Manual (WSM). For claiming, use causal part 14B291 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.
