Special Service Message 53960 - 2025 Expedition/Navigator - 24 Inch Wheels - Vibrations Felt At Freeway Speeds

Some 2025 Expedition/Navigator vehicles equipped with 24 inch wheels from the factory may experience vibrations felt at freeway speeds that have been isolated to the wheel/tire assemblies. This may be due to tire flat spotting. Dealers should refer to the all-new Pinpoint Test G located in the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 204-04A, for help with diagnosing this condition. The currently available original equipment tire design has not changed. If flat spot occurrences continue after tire replacement, inform customers that driving the vehicle more frequently and minimizing the duration of time the vehicle remains stationary/parked will help to reduce flat spot occurrences. Returning vehicles with flat spot concerns must be diagnosed and repaired using Pinpoint Test G (referenced above). Engineering is investigating with the tire supplier and expects updates to be available in Q4 2025. Monitor Professional Technician System (PTS) for updates.

The referenced Pinpoint Test G is attached below as a PDF document...

I can't for the life of me understand why a full-sized, fully-capable, 4WD SUV is being fitted at the factory with 24" wheels. My 2020 came with stock 22" wheels and it was one of the first things I changed. Not only do they ride rough (especially on those washboard dirt roads that lead to the camp sites), but I had a blowout on Christmas Day 3,000 miles from home and finding someone with 22" tires was not easy; I had to go to a dealership to get them. I moved down to an 18" wheel and tire combo that matched the spare. Leave the decision for 20"+ wheels to that aftermarket crowd.
