Steering gearbox potential problem

ok the next question is how is all of your linkage components. Ball joints ect. If they are worn out that would also cause hesitation in your steering when turning

I have to replace the idler arm, but that's it.

That is one factor of why tour having hesitation

UPDATE - eventually, the tightness experienced after replacement of the steering box went away and is fine. I have a small leak from the reservoir somewhere (more sweating than leak) but car steers fine. Likely just box put together too tight (it was a refurb).
