It runs fine at idle and through entire power curve.

I’m noticing all of a sudden it has to crank longer to startup.

Any guidance is appreciated.

Sounds like the fuel pump might be going out. Next time you start it try turning the key but wait a little bit to crank it. If it starts right up after waiting your most likely going to need a fuel pump.

There's a check valve in the fuel pump that can cause this. There may also be a fuel pressure regulator. You have to check your fuel pressure at the fuel rail and see if it holds after the car's turned off. If it bleeds down over a few minutes, you have a problem here.

00XLT's right on with this. Turning the key on runs the pump to get the pressure back up if it bleeds down.

If that doesn't pinpoint a fuel problem, check your plugs.

The Ford pump, if that's what he's putting in their, is retail of $300.00 or so. The rest is labor. It's roughly a 3-4 hour job. That's high labor for the Midwest. Here in California, $125.00 to $200.00 is the norm. Most dealers are hovering around $200.00 per. Shop around, and see if they install a Motorcraft pump. The Ford ones like so many parts on these SUVs seem to work best.

We added fuel filter and a piece of fuel line that was eroding.

I have the same issue with my 99 Expedition. The fuel injectors need to be primed. To start turn key all the way forward and stop before turn over. Turn ignition back all the way and then forward to start. He fuel injection isn't priming and turning it back then back forward primes the injection system. My mechanic showed me this and it works every time. Hope this works for you. Please let us know if successful.
