FWIW, find a local reputable engine builder. My builder has done a couple dozen engines for me with no issues. He does not offer a warranty but he will happily give you his cell number and expects you to call him first if there is ever an issue. I pay about $2500 for him to rebuild a 5.4 3v. He's not fast, but in a couple of weeks I'll have a fresh motor already painted up with new fasteners, torque marks on every bolt, excellent quality, and most importantly a handshake. Bigger ain't necessarily better. A good small shop can change your perspectives.
