I have a 2003 expedition XLT FX4 and picked up a 2003 eddie bauer expedition to get some parts off of it.

I want to swap the factory side panel with sub into my expy is it gonna be prewired?

I also want to swap in the over head DVD player has anyone done that?

I have the complete 2003 donor so I can get whatever parts I need off of it.

I only know of the 3rd Generation trucks. The XLT's have a harness that does not contain wiring for the rear sub-woofer or the overhead DVD player. On those trucks, you would have to fabricate a harness or splice in parts of an Eddie Bauer or Limited harness.

No I'm speaking for the third gen. trucks, but on them the woofer needs a few wires. There's a heavy (12ga) feed for power that goes straight to the fuse box and a 14 ga ground. Then there are two signal wires (that are shielded) from the radio, and a single wire that provides a 5 volt signal from the radio that turns on the amp on. They run down the passenger side rocker panel. Look at a schematic for the truck and it will show what's needed.

For dvd, check for a 12 pin connector in the driver sides C-pilar.
Pictures are from a junked vehicle. 03 or 04
Background. I have stripped a DVD unit from a salvage vehicle. I also split off the dvd harness from that vehicle from something else that shared that harness. I forgot what the other unit was, but it went down the passenger sidebar C-pilar.

yeah, i saw the same thing.
honestly your better off making your own leads to a new sound system and hooking up a custom dvd player that can synchonize with your dash double din.

i thought about this solution as a way better upgrande than messing with the stock harness and ect...

fyi. the new stereos can also work for your steering wheel buttons, you can even program new custom functions to them!

ill be doing this soon since im going road triping in december. 36hr drive. and posting updates.
