Hey all...
Driving on highway today...Had check engine light come followed by my temp warning light...then the gauge dropped to C, then back to normal, then back to C...

I checked SCTx4 and it had codes p0119 and p1289.

Both have to do with coolant system. I wonder if I have a bad temp sensor? The coolant doesn’t look too bad at all. Not sure if thermostat could play a part in this?

Finally got it out. And yes, that is anti-freeze not urine. Lol
Hopefully a new one will do the trick

Ok. I’m at a loss.

CHT sensor replaced. Thermostat replaced. New coolant.
I started it up and it’s still throwing the P1289 code after I cleared it twice.

I also noticed the temp gauge stays on ‘cold’ even when the engine is clearly warm and running for 10 min.

Would a bad gauge cause the PCM to think it’s overheating when it’s not?

Check the wires going to the temp sensor for open circuit. Possibly a critter of some kind did some chewing.

Defiantly check the harness, also you have to be very carful while installing the new sensor not to damage the plastic side. I have done that.

I’m thinking wiring has to be the issue. I was also wondering about critters.
I need to figure out where to check tho? Back of the engine?

I’m trying to avoid taking it to the dealer but dang it...getting to a wire behind the engine sounds more daunting than what I did today.

Update: Had to finally take it to the dealer. It ended up being the wire between the harness and CHT connector. I spent a small fortune having them replace a freaking wire.
Back up and running though...thankfully.
