LMAO, I'm in school this week in Santa Barbara and today I got to learn the specifics on how HID headlights work. He he he he he he he. Gotta love my job and the round about things that they end up teaching me. If you want to teach yourself a thing or two, look up "Wien's Law" That is the principle upon which HIDs work. I can't wait for tomorrow. That is when we get into the good stuff. Always on the look out to see how something else works.

Tomorrow will be essentially how to put a night vision/infrared camera into a vehicle. He he he he he. Gotta love being able to learn one thing and apply it to many other things. I can see it now, me driving around with no lights on, but still able to see the world. For some reason, a black car with blacked out headlights and tail lights is sounding really good about now. OH the trouble I would end up in.

thermo your homework for tomorrow is to do a write up on the infrared so we can all put it in or expys. especially sol. dont know how he drives at night with a tinted windshield. guess it helps to be in a "lifted" expy so he can just run over the small cars he doesn't see.

Ross, I"m an Instrumentation and Controls Technician/Security Maintenance Tech for a nuclear power plant. I'm out learning about how infrared cameras work. IT is just part of what I need to know about the cameras. But, I'm sure you know me and all the "interesting" things that I know about and are willing to share with you guys.

As for what happens after I learn this, it is time to move on to something else and see what I can learn then. The more things I learn, the more that I realize that I don't know. Of interest, it was interesting to know why the 4300K HID bulbs are also the brightest. But, with the understanding of Wien's Law, it will be obvious to those people too.

Tallsville, the system is actually pretty easy to do. All you need is an infrared camera (only costs about $3000), a converter box, and a monitor. You could mount the monitor just above the radio, possibly a little to the left of there, the converter box can go under the recess in the center console if you have the overhead air feeds, and the camera would get mounted in the corner of the lower grille opening. The rest is simply running wires between the components. I can see it now. 20 Expys running in a row, going off of the heat signatures of the truck in front of them. WEeeeeeeeee.
