I was looking at everyone’s tow hitch cover thread but not sure if mine applies so I’m making a new thread here (the reason I’m new)!

The silver tow hitch cover was stolen off my expedition. I’m by no means artistic so I can’t necessarily buy the cheap primed one and make it look great painted.

Does anyone have a part number for this that’s already this gray color? I saw one that’s iron gray and another that’s dark carbon, but I don’t necessarily want to buy and return something that’s a shade off.

Just curious if anyone has the exact painted part number for this. I assume it’s standard since most expeditions I see have this gray silver bumper color.

Mine was stolen a few years ago. Bought a replacement, but primed and painted it myself. Was super easy. The hardest part was finding the paint colour. Went to a paint matching auto paint place and they mixed it up in an aerosol can. Looks great 2 years later.

Did you seal it? Or just spray it?

Verify your year applies. Mine is a 2020 and this is what I came up with.
You can try these from Rock Auto:

Ford part number seems to be JL1Z-17F000-APTM for 18-21 but maybe more.

My new Timberline has never had its cover pried-off and yins have given me something new to worry about.

At the dealership the salesrep and manager and myself were looking at it and I asked about the hitch receiver. The manager bent-over to try to remove it and had some trouble and I said "don't bother". After bringing it home I looked at it and it's pretty secure--no I still haven't pried it off!

I can well imagine attaching a disc with super-adhesive like you put to windshields and then a cable or metal strap of some sort to discourage theft. Hmm...

For the first couple of times, it was really hard for me to take it off. After that, usually it takes me just 10 to 20 seconds.
