Noticed my transmission fluid needed replacing at 208k. Took it to local mechanic. They say they drained and filled ****** with MERCON LV.

It was my understanding that MERCON V should've been used?? Am I wrong on this, and is MERCON LV compatible with the 4r100 ****** ?

If MERCON V should've been used, what the **** should i do?

They should not have used LV ( Low Viscosity ) Mercon in place of the spec'd Mercon V fluid. It will now require a complete flush with Mercon V to fix the issue. The two fluids are not compatible. Mercon LV was introduced to improve gas mileage, not increase transmission life. Call around your area and find a shop that can do an actual flush, and make sure they use Mercon V.
