How many quarts of fluid should I order for draining the transmission and changing the filter?

Mine quoted 6 or 700 bucks. I think I’ll just wait for the cdf to blow and get it as part of a new trans.

I did this myself. Wasn't too hard, just need time. It's a pain to get the pan off the crossmember. Also have to be careful with all the bolts and also have to remove the coolant lines and heat shields. Got it done though. Only got about 5-6 Quarts though. I bought ten but didn't need but 6ish. No issues thus far. Reused all the gaskets and seals. Just replaced the filter with a Raybestos one. Motorcraft Merson ULV. It honestly hasn't helped much lol

Crazy enough, original tranny that I can tell, original fluid with 130K miles. Not bad for the ole 10R80!! I'm waiting for my day for it to blow...

There's a fill hole at the top of the pan.
