Got a weird one today. Truck will not start. When you turn the key to the on position you get a buzzing sound from the dash on the passenger site and when you crank the key nothing happens, just continues to buzz. So I tried boosting it, the buzzing goes away when the booster cables are connected. but the truck still wont start. The battery appears to have lots of juice. We lifted the truck up and with the key in the on position and using a screwdriver we are able to get the starter to turn over but the motor won't fire. Took all the fuses out of the factory remote starter, still wont start. The starter sounds fine. Checked the fuse in the kick panel, fuse looks good. The truck started fine this morning, drove to a friends 20 minutes away tried to start it a couple hours later and above is what happened. Any ideas??

if the buzzing sound is coming from the fuse box it may be the starter relay.

This relay is part of the printed circuit board inside of the fuse box. They have been know to overheat and cause damage to the circuit board.

it doesnt crank. the buzzing sounds almost like its coming from around the heater, not the fuse box. I checked the fuse, pulled it and looked at it, it looked fine.

When you jumped the starter with the screw driver, did the engine rotate or did the starter only spin?
Have you checked for fuel pressure on the fuel rail?

FYI - read the sticky in the electrical section on checking fuses. Looks don't mean diddly...a test light will verify if you have power going into and out of the fuse. Plus you don't have to pull them.

I would think that you need to determine exactly where the buzzing noise is coming from Also saying you looked at the fuse doesn't tell me you tested it. That's like saying your expy won't start and the battery looks good but you can only tell by testing it with a meter.

I have looked at the wiring circuit and the voltage for the starter goes thru the starter relay. Even if the relay is being energized doesn't mean that the contacts in that relay for the starter are receiving voltage.

check both fuse 101 and 102 with a meter
Then take your meter and hook one lead to a good ground and the other lead to the YELLOW/LIGHT BLUE wire on the starter Have someone start the expy and see if you are getting 12 volts at the wire

It wasnt the fuses, it was the PCM relay, swaped it with the one for the fog lights and the truck fired right up. have to pick up a new relay, and maybe a spare.

thanks for the update So the buzzing was the PCM Relay in the fuse box

That's the strange thing about noise it sometimes appears to be somewhere other than where it is
