Hi guys, bought a used expedition '17 limited (4000k only) but had driver side frontal repairs.

"Trailer brake module malfunction" shows on display on start up. Checked the fuse #18 30A "Trailer brake" and #31 5A "Trailer brake on/off" , both are ok.

While poking under the hood found two interesting things,
  1. Fuse 68 & 69 (Anti-lock brake system valves & Anti-lock brake system pump.) were blown previously and had a workaround copper wire in them.
  2. There was a connector in the harness not attached on the driver side.

Any clues, how to proceed. Attaching the pics.

either that 07Navi fuse jumping you’ve found is the problem, or it’s indicative of them doing a whole lot more quacky stuff to that truck, post accident. You may have to trace all wires and look for breaks? Check continuity?

So got hold of a manual including "OEM connectors end views". The connector i found, was for the hood ajar switch (which sits under the hood on the driver side attached to the fender) which was altogether missing, got one from the scrap yard as no one had it in stock.

Turns out this is why the remote start was not working !!
