Upgrade Sync maps

I have a 2019 Expy and got the notice to Upgrade the Sync Maps...

I checked it as the email didn't list a cost.. after checking its $149 .

I connect thru Carplay with a Dongle I got from AliExpress for $15 and use Google Maps with the satellite view. I can also use WAZE and Apple Maps as well as a number other apps . It gives me a split screen view of what I have open.

So why would I want to upgrade to Maps that would be outdated in no time .

Thoughts?

The CarPlay maps require your cell signal to work, whereas the Ford maps use satellite communication. If you drive in an area without reliable cell coverage, you might consider the Ford Sync Navigation.

That's the only benefit I found. In traveling remote areas, the cell service goes out when I need it the most.

If you are traveling to an area where you won't have cell coverage, you can use Google Maps on your cell and download the maps of that area in advance. This works great all over the world.
